In 1995, Health Check consisted of Carole Kelly, who founded the company in her garage in Sausalito, California. After establishing a small office there, she added John Zivnuska and shortly thereafter, Susan Thiel, all of whom were working out of a beach vacation house on Highway 98 in the Florida Panhandle.
There was no internet connection. There was no direct link to the hospitals. There were these three dedicated people, an idea, a phone line, and a stack of paper claims. There was hard work, laughter, and a drive to make a difference to their clients.
Many years later, Carole Kelly has spearheaded a herculean effort into upgrading technology, opening satellite offices, and developing a system that has become an industry leader in Retrospective Managed Care auditing and recovery.
This effort has paid off in the form of offices in California, Florida (multiple locations), Illinois, and a new 2009 office in Arizona.
The leadership continues, and is reflected throughout the organization with the constant progress of the team.
